Today, Lalique has entered a new phase of development and modernization. As a result, Lalique has decided to open the unique skills of our crystal makers to contemporary designers, while keeping the greatest admiration and respect for rené Lalique’s work and his tremendous input in the fi eld of creation. Opening this cristallerie to new artists will allow its exceptional know-how to be interpreted with new eyes and with a fresh creative breath.

As part of this new initiative, Lalique has asked the studio andrée putman to create a lighting collection, both timeless and contemporary. The orgue collection presents modern and elegant lines highlighted by the purity and brilliance of crystal. It was created from the passion for beauty, the search for excellence, and the will to combine the talent and expertise of our glass-masters with the grand creativity of a studio of international fame.

The orgue collection evokes nostalgia for simple and pure lines, such as those that characterize the 1930’s. Olivia putman wanted this collection to be very contemporary utilizing a different approach of Lalique’s know-how: Associated with the new possibilities that led offers, the crystal of these chandeliers produce the effect of a rain shower of light.

The orgue collection is in line with rené Lalique’s work as it echoes the lighting columns and chandeliers he designed for the famous first class dig room of the normandie ocean liner.

Studio putman’ s designs exhibit this passion for pure lines and give great importance to the light : Artificial lighting is often indirect, the sources being hidden. The orgue collection follows this philosophy by offering a feeling of levitation : The chandeliers are like crowns of light suspended in space. These lightings are majestic yet not intimidating; they will be at home in various types of interiors. I can imagine them in a californian villa by richard neutra as well as in a baroque venetian palace.
